During a hurricane emergency, PHA will implement its Hurricane Emergency Contingency Plan. The plan has been recently updated and distributed to all regime Presidents, PHA Delegates and regime administrators. In order for this plan to work, it is absolutely essential that PHA receives the support and cooperation of residents, business owners, employees, developers, contractors and visiting guests. The following are some guidelines contemplated in the emergency plan that will be strictly observed:
When the contingency plan is implemented, normal operations are altered and the complex operates under the guidelines issued by an Emergency Committee chaired by the PHA Executive Director. An Emergency Response Center will be established in the Club Cala pool complex. The center will have security and emergency personnel to coordinate measures oriented toward the safety and security of residents and their property. You may contact the center thru (787) 852-6000.
Strict access control into Palmas will be in effect, 12 hours prior to hurricane arrival. Residents waiting for contractors or visitors should notify the Access Control Center (787) 285-2751 to pre-announce visits. Visitors will not be allowed into residential areas if resident does not pre-announce visit and cannot be contacted to verify an unannounced visitor. No one will be allowed to remove property from Palmas without proper written authorization.
Just prior to hurricane impact visitor access to commercial and residential areas will be terminated. Only residents and employees with proper I.D. will be allowed in these areas.
During hurricane passage everyone should remain secured indoors. The official Civil Defense Shelter for this area is the Luciano Rios School in Road 923 in the Buena Vista neighborhood. You should make your safe shelter preparations and movements well in advance of hurricane arrival
Immediately after hurricane passage an Emergency Action Team will conducting a damage and safety assessment and taking appropriate security measures to prevent additional loss/damage to property. Security will take strict measures to restrict traffic until roads are safe to drive. You will not be allowed to circulate freely within Palmas until it is absolutely certain that it is safe to do so. Once the situation is stabilized normal access and traffic will be restored.
Remember safety is paramount. Your cooperation and understanding is essential on this matter.
